Activated carbon feature in filter, is effective for removing a wide range of pollutants.  Generally, organic compounds of molecular weight greater than 50 and boiling points over zero degrees centigrade are good candidates for absorption.   Under normal circumstances absorption capacities are 5-100% of the weight of the activated carbon.  The following is a partial list of typical compounds removed by activated carbon.
